0 - The Fool

THE FOOL stands upon a precipice and seems to be ready to walk off into nothingness.  He appears totally unconcerned, as does the small white dog dancing merrily along beside him.  There's nothing about their actions that, in any way, would lead us to think that they're in trouble - or about to be. He  transports  everything  he  may require on his

travels over his shoulder.  All is good...

The Fool symbolizes the part of you and me that is eternal, the “God-Self,” that which we actually are from lifetime to lifetime, and will be till we determine we have absorbed what we came here to learn and go back to the God-Self forever.

Prior to coming here, to learn whatever we need to learn in this lifetime, we're in a place where We realize that nothing in the approaching experience can ever actually harm us.  We put on this physical structure and dwell in this material world simply to learn and grow.  Nothing in this physical domain can ever harm the individual we actually are.  The experiences appear to hurt, they have to if we are going to learn from them, but it just seems that way.  Once

this life-experience is all over, we return to the Light, to the place

where we know who and what we actually are.

It's rather similar to attending a motion picture.  To get the most out of  it, we must set aside our disbelief and enter into the experience as though it was real.  But, actually, it is a fantasy; a part of us always realizes we'll walk out of it unscathed.  Part of us realizes that in our present life-experience, as well.  Our spiritual advancement is greatly heightened once we remember that we will be unharmed, regardless of what our senses are telling us at any given time.  The Fool knows this! We are not physical beings who have a soul, we are spiritual beings who are wearing a physical structure for a while, to learn what we need to learn.

When I meditate on The Fool I understand why he is so unconcerned.  I understand that he KNOWS nothing in the life-experience in front of him can harm him, and it assists me in remembering who and what I truly am.  In my meditation I see myself as The Fool, standing always at the threshold of new experiences and always mindful that I am safe.

The Master Jesus said, “the kingdom of God is within you.”  We all are, on the soul-level, a manifestation of God, or the Universe, or Infinite Intelligence, or whatever you prefer to call the Divinity. That's the lesson we need most to learn.  It is the foundation of all spiritual development.  When we fully understand this “Oneness,” we will not need this material world any longer.

The mystics of all religions have taught that we CAN attain this. The Fool helps me remember that.  He aids me in remembering, the “problems” in this life-experience are exactly like the “problems” we had in mathematics class back in our school days.  They were for working out to help us learn.  We walked out of math class unharmed, and, like the Fool, we’ll walk out of this world the same way.
